Library Construction Update

WE ARE MOVING!!!

The old library closed on March 4, 2007. We will open in the new library on Monday, March 19, 2007 at 10 a.m. I know many of you would like some updated pictures. Please bear with us! We are trying to get everything moved in these 2 weeks. Once that is done and the mess is cleaned up, we will post new pictures. We have so many things we want to show you! We are excited that this is almost over, and we look forward to the many new services we will be able to offer the community.

Library Construction, Week 33

We are in the last month of construction. All of the cracked and worn sidewalk and parking is being pulled out and replaced.



When you enter the new building, you will be welcomed by our new library logo.

Little kids won't have to stand on their toes to see over the new circulation desk.

The kitchenette will make the multi-purpose room a fun place for meetings.

Library Construction, Week 29

They have started on the roof. The color, aged bronze, goes with the window frames.




Most of the other work is now inside. Here a worker is adding the frame work for a feature above the checkout desk that will also hold lights.

Library Construction, Week 24

It has been some time since I've been able to add to our blog. As you can see, there have been quite a few changes on the exterior of the building. The brick work is nearly complete although some roughcut limestone trim will still be added around the large curved windows.



Quite a bit of the work has now moved inside. The drywallers have been busy! This is our meeting room. This is looking towards the entrance of the room and the kichenette area. There will be a fullsize refrigerator, a microwave, and a sink area with counter for use during meetings.

Library Construction, Week 20

We are getting a lot of compliments on the brickwork! This is on the front (west) side of the building. The brick color is "Cherokee Blend." There will also be some limestone trim. A smooth cut band of limestone shows at the top of the brick.

Library Construction, Week 19

Are you curious about the inside of the new library? Areas are starting to be clearly defined as construction continues. This will eventually be the coffee bar, an amenity that our building focus groups strongly suggested we include in the new building.

Library Construction, Week 18

The front of the new library is really taking shape. The vapor barrier is on the roof and the metal roof should start going on shortly. The construction crews still have to add the second part of the entrance. It will replicate the main roof peak only in a smaller size and also provide cover for part of the front sidewalk.




Some of the masonry work has started. This is on the east side of the building. If you look closely, you can see the two rows of bricks that are already in place at the bottom.
